VW predicts that over 7,000 BlueMotion models will be rolled out in 2008 as the German car giant continues to meet demand for this new range of low-CO2 vehicles.
Massive fleet orders have meant that Volkswagen is staggering the volumes of vehicles available. Corporate interest has been particularly strong in local councils and daily rental firms, say reports.
The BlueMotion sub-brand is an environmental arm of Volkswagen, and the grille-badge is awarded to the most efficient model in each range. Ultimately, all of VW's models will have a BlueMotion representative. BlueMotion cars models achieve big CO2 reductions due to a series of small but effective design tweaks which put less strain on the engine.
The ever-popular Golf is likely to be the most sought-after BlueMotion model, with fleet predicted to account for over 1400 of the 2380 UK allocation. 75% of 2008’s Passat BlueMotions (around 900 vehicles) will go to the corporate sector.
